The bedrooms are constructed on a generous scale although only the suite has a separate shower. The sense of space is a luxury and colour and pattern have been used gently but positively so that the bedrooms have an air of quiet opulence, enhanced in some cases by the use of coronas of fabric above the bed. Detailing is of high quality and the designer has obviously fought hard with the design and build system to ensure the right quality joinery (millwork) details have been realised. Too often on a project plain skirtings are chosen for cost reasons creating a visual downgrade to the quality, but here the architrave details and use of dado rails show the design intent which is frustratingly compromised elsewhere by the contractors use of surface mounted wiring, for example.
Treatment room in the Spa
Hotels with golf courses are commonplace, but the vagaries and eccentricities of the English planning system mean that although this Club has permission for the 52 bedrooms it is for some unknown semantic reason not permitted to call itself an hotel. Despite that the meeting rooms combined with the bedroom provision are, even in advance of the formal launch, already giving the owner a satisfactory rise in the level of interest and bookings from this stage in his development of the property.
