The small size of The Glen Tarsan allows the boat to explore the islands and lochs of South Argyll with any number of different stops and excursions on offer (passengers can make request stops). The ship is accessed via a tender from the shore and shore trips are suggested such as walks for wildlife spotting and trips to historic landmarks. Wildlife spotted on this cruise included eider ducks, dolphins, oyster catchers, cormorants, common seals and sea otters and we were also blessed with a sighting of a golden eagle.
TThe Glen Tarsan is a fabulous boat, ideal for the purpose of gently cruising the lochs, inlets and between islands. Passengers can do a little fishing if they like under expert tutelage and even lay lobster pots (creels) in order to catch a delicious supper. Guests were welcomed and encouraged to spend time in the wheelhouse, watching the Captain at work.
The boat provided the feeling of a personal charter with every possible wish catered for and comforts to match. All in all this was a fabulous experience with a winning combination of unbelievable scenery, superb wildlife spotting, fabulous food and excellent Scottish hospitality.
