Hotels: A Bed too Far?

Recent years have seen bed wars move from a US civil war to becoming a global conflict. Global and local chains introduce Heavenly Beds, Sweet Sleepers, Pillow Butlers, 400 thread count sheets, deep pie crusts and anything else they thought would sway the guest into choosing their establishment over their rival’s offerings.

Much has been trumpeted about the success of these beds, with chains claiming thousands of sales to guest of the beds themselves. Less proclaimed has been a rumoured increase of injuries to housekeeping staff as they struggled with heavier mattresses, and neither has much been heard of the increased load on housekeeping staff due to beds now having nine pillows, underduvets, over duvets, throws all that need to be changed every day All taking more time than ever before.
