Born in Kenya and educated in England, Rodney McMahon has a degree in Economics from Exeter University and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. He took the helm at Hampshire-based
Morgan Contract Furniture in 1992 and continues to take an active interest in the furniture industry as a whole, particularly through training initiatives and involvement with trade associations. Alongside his new role with the BCFA, Rodney is an Assistant to, and Honorary Treasurer of, the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers: he is also a fellow of the RSA and Chairman of the Edward Barnsley Educational Trust, which is devoted to the training of cabinetmakers through high quality bespoke commissions.
On accepting the Chair, Rodney McMahon acknowledged the commitment and dynamic approach of the outgoing BCFA Chairman Carolyn Mitchell. ‘We have all appreciated Carolyn’s commitment and determination and I intend to continue many of the initiatives started under her direction,’ he commented.
