SKL Provide Focal Point at Bovey Castle

A stunning, three tier rod suspended pendant from SKL has been used to enhance The Mews at Bovey Castle Hotel. Set within 368 square miles of the Dartmoor National Park, Devon in South West England, Bovey Castle provides guests with a private and tranquil haven. The Mews houses Bovey Castle’s meeting and conference facilities, from stylish contemporary boardrooms to the most outstanding integrated presentation facilities for over 130 delegates.

SKL’s bespoke three tier, rod suspended pendant is an imposing 1.5 metres in diameter and 2.2 metres in height. Hand made glass drops in a combination of colours designed to inspire; smaradd, olive, lime green, tormaline green, smoked topaz and smoked grey, pick out architectural features and enhance the ambient surroundings.

The upper tier shade has been supplied 75 x 300mm length wire suspended glass drops and 6 x 20W LV halogen lamps to illuminate the upper tier of glass drops. Similarly, the lower tier has 300mm length wire suspended glass drops and 4 x 20W LV halogen lamps to illuminate the lower tier of glass drops. The main illumination is supplied by 6 x 18W TC-D compact fluorescent lamps installed in a central lamp tray with remote dimmable control gear.

To subtly enhance the overall effect, the pendant has been designed with a polished steel, step design ceiling plate and suspension framework. For ease of maintenance, the luminaires is connected to a bespoke electronic contact, raising and lowering system.
