Plans for a 108-bedroom hotel, which developers have said would create about 35 jobs, was given the go-ahead by the City of York Council’s planning committee last Tuesday.
The two and four-storey hotel will be built on an L-shaped site with facilities including a bar and restaurant.
Indomito Properties, said last year it wanted to open a Days Inn hotel on the land, offering three-star-plus quality “premier budget” accommodation.
It said it would be run by hotelier Andrew Cossins, who ran the Pavilion Hotel, in Fulford, York.
Criticism of the hotel has come from local councillors. The site was originally intendd for a council operated swimming pool. Ciriticism has also been made fo the 'green'credentials of the proposed bulding. However full palnning consent has now been given for the development
