The bedrooms, whilst better than the standard room in Park Lane (they are larger which helps, but also less domestic than those in the London property) have little visual snap or panache.
The bedrooms at the Intercontinental Berchtesgaden make better use of the views and have more imaginative use of materials. Here these are good but not exceptional. Light fittings are interesting though, and it is difficult to put a finger on why these rooms don't excite - maybe the amount of dark stained timber on the bedhead ,matching that of the robes and other furniture, serves to suck the life out of the room visually. However there is no doubting the comfort and functionality of the rooms which are well up to the high standards this chain achieves currently.(Comparison may be made between these hotels also by using the Gallery of interior images in the DesignClub on this website)
Room layout is very conventional (nothing wrong with that of course) and the large balcony adds to the size of the room. The curtains provide effective blackout, but along with the dark wood stain the whole effect is somewhat heavy. The darkness may of course be welcome in the heat and brightness of a Spanish summer.
The suites are more imaginative in their use of materials and furnishing, as well as being considerably larger.

The route from the bedrooms to the pool areas can be quite a trek, but the result of the large area is that the public spaces are very generous. The business lounge is double height and spacious with galleries housing on one side a board room and on the other a large balcony area with computers and web access on either side.
There are separate meeting rooms and a conference complex which allows the hotel to cater for business requirements alongside the golf - a popular mix.
A large lounge serves the main public areas leading through into a bar with a terrace overlooking the lake. The restaurant too spills out onto deep terracing allowing al fresco dining. It is particularly pleasant for breakfast as it provides a cool and shady environment.
The golf has its own adjacent clubhouse and bar, as well as a pro shop and all the usual facilities. Once again this bar has its own terrace, which is linked to the other restaurants and bars in the adjacent leisure complex.
